Create your own board game - creative writing challenge for kids

Our family is a huge fan of games. Over the past 13 years we have made card games, board games, dice games and chalkboard adventures. We have thought to patent these ideas... maybe one day. I thought it would be interesting to take favorite characters from a book and place them in a game you create.

I love this idea that took their favorite story of Winnie the Pooh and made it in a game.
Check out this book for ideas too.

Some of our favorite games are: Stratego, Risk, Clue, Rummikub, Yahtzee, Scrabble and Balderdash
Do you have any?

  1. I love Yahtzee as well and I love playing Sorry. My kids always try to get me to play Monopoly, but I just don't like it...
Some of the Lego Board games are great as well.
My kids have created their own games and I know they will love this challenge.
I just recently read a children's book (Wildwood) and I think it would make an excellent inspiration for a game!

The Wildwood book we love too! That would make a great game.

    1. No Sarah I was never a teacher :) Thanks for the compliment, but my kids just bring it out in me I guess.
I have always wanted to be a camp counselor, I think that was a cool and creative job.
They are creative I must say. I just try to keep them from saying they are bored.
      Thanks !

    1. Thanks Alison. This one was an easy one because we have done this before.
