Lucky to be

A lot has happened in a week in the east coast....in a place I used to call home.
I felt it was only right to take a "vow of silence" from the blog.
The captain and I took a drive to a quiet place to be present and make peace with nature.

Even though my family was not directly affected by Hurricane Sandy, a lot of my friends were and there are still some I cannot get a hold of. I took the time to reflect on the importance of the small things not material things and hugged my kids a little tighter every day.
I read some amazing stories of volunteers like this one.
These are some pics through the eyes of Instagram.
This photo blew my mind.

People ask me if I feel lucky...I do ... but I felt like I wanted to do more.
This past week there was a home that was burnt to the ground around the corner from my house here.
The next day it was still smoldering... and hoped that it would not start up again.
I dropped my daughter at school and came back to find the site up in flames again.
The flames were creeping up to the farm next to it where I visit my favorite horses.
this is "freckles"... she is the sweetest horse I have ever met
I called 911 and waited with the horses... I felt lucky then that I was there to save them.
I did something.
So I count my blessings.

I have found myself lucky these days I must say. I don't enter many giveaways but I won a few things recently. Their sites deserve a look and a mention.

I won this lovely embroidery hoop from the crafty Liesi who makes amazing things with thread.
Check out her beautiful shop here.
my princess loved it for her play table
This traveled from Australia from Polly who like me loves a simple life full of beauty.
To celebrate her year blogging she had this nifty storage bag up for grabs.

This amazing book happened to be on my most wanted list on Amazon since it came out.
Then Jules, an amazing crocheter, was giving it away... I jumped on it and won.
The book is by Rachel whose blog I love and whose shop I lust for.
Can't wait to get my hands working on these projects!

look she made me some flowers! ... I am going to use as hair pins for the princess
This groovy iPhone case I got from Betsey's dreamy blog.
She had the privilege to giveaway any one of these unique Csera cases.
I love it!

I continually pray for those who are suffering due to the damage from the storm and cheer on the peacemakers out there with big hearts volunteering and opening their doors to those who have no where to go.
Even if I am considered one of the "lucky ones"not to be affected by the storm, I feel much luckier in other ways.

Lucky to be able to make handmade goodies for this California Shop.

Lucky to be constantly reminded by my little ones to dance in the sunny spot and sing out loud when you are the happiest.

If you feel "lucky" take a moment to celebrate it. Time is precious.

  3. Tienes toda la razón, Time IS PRECIOUS
