Spring Awakening

Spring has come early and so we did not hesitate to celebrate it
The nice weather had given us the perfect excuse to play outside
Our senses awakened with the first signs of buds and the vivid crisp colors

We recently took the princess for her first movie theatre experience
at my favorite and one of the oldest small local theaters.
She so loved The Secret World Of Arrietty.
I had always loved this story as a kid and remembered wanting to be Arrietty,
having grand adventures living in a small secret world.

On one rare occasion I had the afternoon to myself I ventured to the city
to one of my favorite yarn shops to dream up a new creation.
I love their windows... it amazes me what they come up with.
Their new theme was dedicated to some famous art works.
Van Gogh's Sunflowers
Andy Warhol's Love
Pablo Picasso's The Dream
The sampling wall is great. You can pick up needles and create a swatch
and try out some new yarns to get your creative juices going
The yarn addict that I am, I have to touch them all and try one out.
A long time friend placed an order for a newborn girl blanket set.
Giving me full creative freedom on this project,
I was so excited to get a new order that I jumped on it right away.
This week I ordered some new business cards in hopes to get more orders soon.

The signs of spring were present here among ladies yearning to create something new.
This place was beaming with yummy goodness all over its walls
With people ready to help and classes in middle of a session,
its a yarn lover's paradise.

I also took advantage to visit one of my favorite
clothing shops across the street and spring was also in full bloom here...
and then drooled for a while

Back at home the princess always keeps me on my tip toes...
So to keep her happy and busy, we made a tutu out of ribbons, and wings and a crown out of paper.
We had so much fun making it, she could not keep from looking at herself

her ballerina pose

Dancing to Swan Lake she helped to awaken all the spring fairies from their winter sleep
She loves to dance shirtless

Out of all her ballerina costumes she favored this homemade one the best.

A favorite part of my day is walking with the king after school talking about life
among familiar streets with hot chocolate between our fingers
in front of the house

And we stop to glance at out favorite windows...
could take pictures of this place forever

on route home and king walking ahead

Enjoy your spring awakening...
