Mad Hatter in Wonderland Part Two

After the king and the grandparents left the Island of Oahu ( from the previous post) they went to the main Island of Hawaii to a guided tour via helicopter ride. This was his favorite part of the whole vacation. Needless to say he fell in love with this fast growing island with the world's most active volcanoes, lush rain forests, snow caped mountains and black sand beaches.

He sent me so many pictures that it was impossible to share them all , but enjoy the best of the bunch!

 He loved the glass floor on the helicopter so he had a true a full view of the island.

This was the text he sent me after he got off the ride.

 Then they took a horse-drawn wagon through the valley of Waipio. The tours are given by the locals that live there, so they get a real first hand look at the lush landscapes and culture. The king enjoyed learning of the history and the spiritual significance for its people.

Tourists are not allowed to go near the homes in the valley, but the king got to meet the guide's family, learned how they live off their land, met their horses, learned how to open macadamia nuts with rocks and was quite smitten with their dog.
