How a satchel was born

This bag was a real labor of love. It has gotten so much love online... thank you.
From its conception it was my own creation.
I wanted to create a bag that had a woven feel and look to it. Like some bags I have which are made in India and Indonesia. I found a knit stitch to create this look.
I alternated two yarns along the way and fell in love with the way it looked.

I wanted the right liner for it and a friend just happened to be selling some great vintage fabrics online.
It was a perfect fit.
I wanted the bag to hold its form and shape, so between the liner and the knit piece I took a pieces of denim and ironed on transfer to stiffen the fabric a bit more.

The key was not to put the denim where the flap would fold.
Braided the handle. Put it all together and it felt like a satchel that a cowgirl would wear.
As soon as it was posted it sold!
I am sad to see it go but so excited to know a fabulous lady in Hawaii will be sporting this piece of mine.

I also made this smaller bag that is too darn cute...
with its ribbon handle, super soft floral liner and pearly shells.
It might just fit your phone, keys and lip gloss... but really what else do you need in the summer?
