Last Table for Six

New Year's Eve was spent at a local family Italian Restaurant two blocks from our house.
The purpose for this visit was not one to celebrate, but to say goodbye to this place
that has been there for 25 years. They would be closing their doors on New Years Day.
The owners Pat and Irene gave me my first waitressing job here in my high school years.
They were family to me and the neighborhood.
This is only place left here that has a real "homey feel" with homemade food.
We all had our favorite thing to order every time we visited.
It was always as good as the first time.

The place always uniquely decorated with antique mirrors, tables and chairs .
All different from each other.
The walls always hung antique pictures, some of actual family members of the owners.
The walls now were now littered with their signature paper doilies, that served as placemats
were now notes of farewells, memories and good lucks.

These were some of the many notes tacked on the walls.
They greeted us with open arms and gave us three a table for six
Made me miss the King so much, he would have loved to be there

As Peter stole an opportunity to take a picture of me daydreaming as usual.
The princess displayed massive amounts of cuteness
enjoying her dessert as if she knew this was her last time here.

The place was buzzing with the regulars
The owners made their rounds sharing stories and good byes

This place will surely be missed

Written on our placemat:
"We Will Miss You! My fork will forever cry for
Aunt Suzie's Chicken Sorentino"

The hood will never be the same.

ARRIVERDERCI Famiglia!!!

This is a video from a local news channel interviewing Irene and
some of the loyal customers about closing their doors.
