The King earns his wings

Today was the day that the King was off to
explore and take flight all on his own
Traveling alone changes a person forever
I traveled alone since I was seven and still yearn for more
View from the Skywalk @ JFK
The boys taking the long walk at the Skywalk together

The Jet Blue kiosks
Hmm... Looks empty
I think I can do this

The King excited to be checking in. We were given one pass for one parent to take him to the gate. Peter knew to give it to me, the waiting alone would drive me nuts

The King felt extra special with this pass
First Class treatment...the best for the best!

On way to the gate we stopped by the bookstore and got the latest Brian Zelnick novel. Author of The Invention of Hugo Cabret.  Something to keep his mind busy for the hour and half we had to wait now.

Shortly after  these pictures were taken
the King's nerves set in.

As time creeped up on us I helped him
calm his nerves and mine as well...

The crew there is the best and made us feel better right away. And with a deep breath, extra hugs and a few more clicks. He was off on his adventure.
He did not turn to look back once
and I held my breath and bit my tongue

The pilot can be seen here in the window making
a funny face at me as the crew got ready for take off

Safe flight my King!

May you never lose your sense for adventure, its the only way to learn.

A special thanks to my family in Puerto Rico, that made this possible for him.
This is an experience of a lifetime.
I know that his time spent there will enrich his life
in ways he cannot imagine yet.
I know because Puerto Rico has done that for me still to this day.
Thanks
